Latest Happenings

Just an update: Not much exciting going on in our lives right now, not that I am complaining!

Cade: Cade is close to earning his Bear in scouts, hopefully next month. He is studying pioneers in school right now. All the kids in his class are part of a different wagon group and they are making their way west on the Oregon Trail. They had to pick their provisions for their wagons and make sure they weren't overweight and create their own character complete with family and job and everything for the trek. Cade is a farmer and is single. (Doesn't even like girls when it's make believe!) Every day they have different things happen on the trail and have to keep a journal log about their trek. They will finish off the unit in March with a big pioneer celebration when they make it to the west. They will get to dress as pioneers, play pioneer games and have a big celebration on the fields at school. We found an old Oregon trail computer game and he has been having fun playing that as well. He is excited for football to start in March.

Carter: Carter is playing basketball right now and is doing great! He is improving every game and is really enjoying it, although his true love is still football. I was a little nervous for him to play since we aren't a big basketball family and he isn't exactly the tallest kid but he is so fast and has scored every game. He isn't afraid to take the ball away from the other team, even if he has to tackle them! He will be playing football in March also, the season starts the day after basketball ends. His team is mostly made up of friends from church and school so he is really excited. Carter is learning about the ocean this month in school and just finished a project on the stingray. He has become a great reader this year and loves school.

Cami: Cami is finishing up ballet this month and will start soccer in March. She loves going to preschool and knows all the letters and sounds. She has turned into quite the "little miss social." She wants to have a different friend over everyday to play. Today she had an interview and assessment for pre-k next year at the boys school. I was worried she wouldn't talk to the teacher doing the testing because she is so shy. But she did great. They had her write her name, some numbers, listen to some stories and tell what would happen next, etc. They also asked her different questions such as what do you eat ice cream with; a spoon, fork or knife? She got that one right. They asked her what she would eat applesauce with and she told them, she wouldn't eat it, it's gross and she doesn't like it! When asked where you play she said outside. Then they asked her where you eat and she answered the table. They asked her where she sleeps and she told them she sleeps on the couch at night! I was dying. I was trying so hard not to laugh. Hopefully the interviewer has a sense of humor and doesn't believe everything a 4 yr old says! Cami's favorite things to do are play computer, dress up, and do any kind of a project, the messier the better! She loves to cut, glue, paint, color, etc. She will sit with me while we both work on our projects all afternoon. My kind of girl!
Chris and Erin: Chris is still doing home health and is enjoying being stress free and working less hours. He is still pursuing opening his own practice in Washington, hopefully sometime this summer if things work out. He will be coaching both boys football teams next month. I have busy with kids: taking them to school and activities, helping with homework, etc. all the fun stuff. I've been trying to get to the gym at least 3 times a week but it's hit and miss. We have been working on remodeling our master bathroom. We had the tub refinished, painted the walls and cabinets and will be putting in new flooring and baseboards soon. Pictures of the completed project soon! Well, that's us in a nutshell.

I remember Oregon Trail! We did the same thing when I was in elementary school. Good times! Tell Chris I'm sorry we keep missing his calls, Todd's home tonight and should be around tomorrow night as well. He just started taking some online classes so he's stuck at home doing research. :)
