Today I officially sold my swim school, Aquatics America. It will be nice to not have to worry about hiring good teachers, answering the phone all day long, everyone's schedules, billing and all of that stuff. But at the same time I have to admit I am kind of sad too. I started out with just me and Stevie advertising at day care centers and teaching all the lessons ourselves that first summer. It's been fun to watch the company grow each year and face new challenges and opportunities. I think the part I will miss the most will be teaching. There are some families who I have taught for the last 6 years and have watched their kids grow each year. It's always fun to see them again and how excited they are to see you! I even get Christmas cards from some of them. There is nothing like taking a child who is deathly afraid of the water and of you and getting them to swim across the pool with their face down and enjoy it! Those are the kids I will miss. The screaming, puking, crazy ones: not so much. Plus this year I'm going to have to actually teach my own kids lessons! When I was in high school and worked as a lifeguard and swim teacher I always thought someday I would get a "real" job. I have really enjoyed the last 6 years of my "real" job but I think I will enjoy having more free time this summer also!

Awww...I know you are going to miss it, but I am sure you are going to love your summers!
That is great news, and like you say, sad too in a way. It is exciting to create something from nothing and nurture it and watch it grow and succeed, kind of like another child. But on the other hand, it can be enslaving and with a family to take care of, I know your summer's were stressful. Congratulations on your years of success though, you did a great job with it and it benefitted your family along the way too! Are you going to send out customer notices?
Erin I am happy for you. You know you really did a great job with your swim school. All those people you meet that you wouldn't of. Congrats on the work you did.
Maybe you can help me get my kids over their water fear.
I think you will enjoy not having to do it! Congratulations!!!
Kudos to you serving as a swim teacher! Wyatt was one of those screaming, crying kids when he went to his first, and second, AND third swim lesson. Its amazing how they finally get over it and move on! Enjoy your summer off!
Since I was there from the beginning...I think I am entitled to a percentage of the sale!! No just kidding. It truly is the end of an era. I also have to get a 'real job' now too. It has been great working with you. I have had a lot of fun! Although I have been puked on about 4 times, pooped on 3 times and who knows how many times scratched up from little kids with claws!! I enjoyed it anyways. I remember the first summer starting out. It was fun teaching with you and learning everything from you. Thanks for the good times!
