The not so lazy days of summer

After a busy spring with sports and school I had the perfect summer all planned out in my head. I envisioned sleeping in, making big breakfasts, lounging by the side of the pool tanning while the kids swam, finishing several projects I'd started, reading the huge stack of magazines I've acquired but haven't had time to read, organizing closets, basically just relaxing and enjoying the summer. Well, reality hit. I've yet to sleep past 7, I often am up at 5 since Cass has decided that's a good time for breakfast. Until the last couple weeks tanning by the pool was out of the question since it was still cold enough to be wearing pants. My stack of magazines has grown taller, I've haven't completed a single project and the closets that needed organized, well, just don't open them and it will be okay. What have we been doing? Carter has been swimming for the Ephrata Tiger Sharks and has practice from 7:45-9 am every day. Then they have meets on Wed. nights. Cade has been playing on the 11 yr old All-Star baseball team and has practice 2 nights a week and double header games the other 2 nights. Cami did a session of swim lessons, Carter did a session of diving lessons. Poor Cass just goes along for the ride. We have had a couple warm, fun days at the pool. Cassidy loves to float around the lazy river in a tube and the other kids have enjoyed playing in the water and sand with their cousins or friends. Now it's almost the end of July, we leave for a month in Vegas in 2 days. By the time we get back football will be starting then school and summer will be over. I have high expectations for a nice relaxing month in Vegas. Think it will happen? Probably not but I have to wish!

A few pictures of our summer: I haven't been very good at taking pictures of the kids various activities so far this summer, most of the time I feel like if we've all gotten there with the right equipment and the right kid and on time we are doing okay, who cares if I brought the camera but didn't take a single picture!

That's right. No relaxing for you. We all need to get together. Will you be here the 20th? We are all going out to say farewell to Jinny.
