Did you know you can call 911 on a cell phone that doesn't work anymore? Carter found out this is true yesterday. My parents have an old cell phone they no longer use but keep for the grandkids to play with. The little kids think it's real and dial numbers and talk on it all the time. Yesterday we were sitting around at my parents house after swimming and they were playing with the phone. Carter decided to call 911, just pretending of course. So he dialed and I could hear someone on the other end of the phone! The dispatcher wanted to know what his emergency was! I quickly grabbed the phone and explained it was an old cell phone that doesn't work anymore and the kids were just playing with it, no emergency here! She explained that you can still get emergency services off an old phone! So for future reference, don't practice calling 911 on a cell phone unless you want the police knocking on your door.

That is so good to know. We have about 5 old cell phones the grandkids play with all the time!
Mishelle has had this experience more than once with her kids calling 911 on a cell phone. Thank goodness she knows the lady that works at the call center and she calls Mishelle to see if everything is ok before they send the police.

Thank goodness they didn't come knocking at the door!!! Who knew???
Oh wow! I'm glad that I know that now. The kids play with our old cell phones all the time.
